Testimonials
“While studying oboe with Kaycee Ware-Thomas, I grew as a musician and as a person. Kaycee is a deeply passionate and talented musician and mentor who inspires with her dedication in sharing her extensive knowledge with her students. Under her instruction, my practice habits, reed-making skills, and performance mentality became more efficient and more musically conscious.
She employs numerous techniques aimed at holistically improving the musician. Some of these techniques which I found most beneficial include: vocal projection, phrasing, and breathing as they translate to oboe; colorful imagery to understand and then convey a musical idea; thorough practice and listening journals to consciously improve self-assessment and performance.
As a mentor, I found Kaycee’s advice to be supportive and encouraging; I consider her musical instruction and mentoring a large component in my overall growth throughout my time at Hillsdale College and am forever grateful for the musicianship and confidence she helped to instill within me.”

"I began taking oboe lessons from Kaycee at the beginning of my sophomore year of high school. I immediately found my playing begin to improve, both technically and artistically. Kaycee is highly knowledgeable about the oboe, and music in general. Furthermore, she is excellent at perceiving what exactly is holding back her students, and is just as adept at pinpointing the solution. I know I would not be where I am - a great oboe program - without Kaycee's help."

“I have been a student of Mrs. Thomas now for 5 years. She taught me how to play the oboe and really focuses on technique and tone in order to create the best sound possible. I have learned so much from her and would highly recommend her to anyone that wants to learn a new instrument or become a better oboist, artist, and performer.”
